Abstract

A 30-year-old female with type 1 diabetes mellitus presented with frontal headache, vertigo, photophobia and phonophobia. Neurological examination disclosed cognitive slowing, abnormal head-impulse test and gaze-evoked horizontal nystagmus. Lumbar puncture (LP) revealed elevated opening pressure (30 cmH2O), and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis showed lymphocytic pleocytosis (20 cells/µL), hypoglycorrhachia of 42%, and hyperproteinorrhachia (3.98 mmol/L). Pre-contrast brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was considered unremarkable.
