Abstract

A wideband array imaging architecture based on subbanding and spatial filter bank is developed and its performance is analyzed in detail. By using the method called angle bin, the synthetic range profile can be acquired with accepted distortion. Two related theoretical formulas are deduced for the calculation of the range shift value and evaluation of the amplitude deformation extent of a target echo impinging upon the proposed subbands imaging architecture, and thereby two critical conditions are derived. When radar system parameters satisfy such two critical conditions, a target's filtered synthetic range profile with acceptable distortion can be obtained. Specific conclusions are verified with some simulation results.
