Abstract
This study aims to design a web technology based Emergency System (SmartER) system, which will enable the doctors and nurses to perform the patient related procedures more quickly and smoothly in the emergency departments. SmartER is not just software, it is planned as a system that includes a monitor screen to be mounted on the wall, a barcode bracelet for the patients, mobile devices to be used by doctors and nurses. In the design phase, attention was paid to the requirements of the emergency room (ER) environment. The system is designed with web technologies which will run effective on the mobile devices. Restful web services are used and server-client connections have been established. The SmartER system will enable the nurses to enter the various requests for the emergency patients, display the results of these requests easily with the mobile devices. The doctor will be notified to his/her mobile device and will be able to view the results from anywhere. The Emergency Warning System will analyze the output data of the triage application to detect urgent or quarantine situations. The system will display the status of the patient on the the screens which are placed at certain points of the ER. It is aimed to integrate the SmartER system with the medical information systems which are currently in use in the hospitals.
