Abstract

A two-stage wavelet-multiple population genetic algorithm identification method is proposed to solve the problem of difficult damage detection of cantilever structures. The strain mode is then transformed into a wavelet using the Matlab toolbox, the structure’s damage location is examined using the wavelet singularity principle, and the displacement mode and frequency are then used to determine the degree of damage using a multiple population genetic algorithm (MPGA). When no damage information about the structure is available, this method can determine the damage’s location and extent. For example, numerical simulations and tests on a cantilevered beam demonstrate this method’s effectiveness.
