Abstract
A fast and simple voltammetric method based on the use of ZrO2 nanoparticle/ionic liquids carbon paste electrode (ZrO2/NPs/IL/CPE) is proposed for the determination of vitamin C (ascorbic acid (AA)) in the presence of vitamin B6. In the first step, we describe synthesis and characterization of ZrO2 nanoparticles (ZrO2/NPs) with different methods such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). In the second step, application of the synthesis nanoparticles describes for the preparation of carbon paste electrode modified with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bmim]BF4) as a binder for voltammetric determination of AA and vitamin B6 in food samples. At an optimum condition (pH 7.0), the two peaks are separated ca. 0.44 and 0.82 V for AA and vitamin B6. This point shows that AA can be determined in the presence of vitamin B6 and more than 3.75 times current excess of AA. The peaks current of square wave voltammograms (SWV) of AA and vitamin B6 increased linearly with their concentration in the ranges of 0.07–850 μM AA and 0.8–550 μM vitamin B6. The detection limits for AA and vitamin B6 were 0.009 and 0.1 μM, respectively. The modified electrode has been successfully applied for the assay of AA and vitamin B6 in food samples such as tablet, urine, fruit juice, and injection in comparison with other method. The obtained data was check with F and t tests.
