Abstract
We propose a very compact electro-optical switch based on a directional coupler (DC) with left-handed material (LHM). The embedded LHM will significantly reduce the size of directional coupler, and by apply a proper voltage at the straight waveguide a switch of two channels is realized. Simulation results show that a electro-optical switch with a size of 134μm×5.74μm can be realized.
