Abstract

Hospital librarians routinely develop relationships with users and vendors as well as operate as valuable members of multidisciplinary teams,1 but rarely do they report working with executive level partners on a continuing basis. This can result in a lower perception of a librarian's value to the organization due to the disconnect between what librarians do on a day-to-day basis and what they could do to add strategic value to the organization. The benefits of partnerships with hospital administrators for libraries are well documented.2 , 3 This article will describe a successful working partnership between a medical librarian at a multihospital system and the chief learning officer and discuss its implications for others.
