Abstract

In this paper an ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse generator for characterizing of different materials and detecting changes in their properties using a dielectric spectroscopy is presented. The key property of the SRD, used to generate UWB pulses, is the very fast transmission of impedance from low to high and vice versa. Additionally, utilizing this diode reduces the power consumption. In the proposed circuit, microstrip lines are used to impedance matching and frequency response improvement. The nonlinear static and dynamic characteristics of SRD are modeled by Advanced Design Systems (ADS). The simulation results show that the pulse has a −10dB bandwidth of 9.5 GHz which is sufficient for studies of the dielectric properties of the most materials especially oily materials by using dielectric spectroscopy.
