Abstract
In autumn 2017, Jimmie Holland, MD, gave her last grand rounds presentation. It was titled, “The Oldest Living Psycho-Oncologist.” In the presentation, she described the human side of cancer, the importance of mentorship, and “giving back” to the field, as well as the lessons she learned throughout her 63-year career. There was no one better to talk about mentorship, since she is internationally recognized for developing and “mentoring” the field of Psycho-Oncology, and has had a profound impact on how doctors around the world care for patients with cancer.
