Abstract

Equations for image forces on a charged particle in a convergent plate channel have been derived and depositions for uniform velocity profile in 5-, 10- and 15-degree convergent channel due to image and viscous force effects have been calculated. The results show that the vertical component of fluid velocity tends to reduce the deposition for very short channels but the converging channel walls tend to reduce the distance between the particle and the walls which in turn increases deposition for long channels.
