Abstract

An elliptically tapered slot antenna (TSA) with high and relatively-flat gain is proposed in this paper. Its measured 10-dB impedance bandwidth is 2.65–12.90 GHz which covers the frequency range of ultra-wideband (UWB). Meanwhile, on the lower band of UWB (3 to 5 GHz), the measured antenna gain varies within 9.25 to 10.25 dBi. Furthermore, differing from many TSAs, the ground plane is just a simple rectangular structure but not a tapering shape.
