Abstract

A Patient-Specific Surgical Guide (PSSG) for orthognathic surgery is a novel approach. Only a few papers on the Patient-Specific Surgical Guide (PSSG) for Oral Maxillofacial (OMF), which focuses on implant design have been published. We describe a systematic approach for designing Patient-Specific Surgical Guides (PSSG) for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMF) using 3D Imaging. DICOM data of two patients with mandible tumor have been used. The procedure includes the following steps: a) CT segmentation; b) Reverse engineering; c) Product design; d) 3D printing with an FDM/SLA printer; and e) post-processing. We used a patient's CT clinical data in this investigation. Statistical analysis was done by comparing dimensional changes before & after surgery. Deviation obtained for case1 axial, coronal & sagittal dimensions obtained are: 0.1mm, 0.72mm & 0.91mm & for case2 are 0.35mm, 0.7mm & 0.7mm respectively, which are very less as compared to existing studies.
