Abstract
Multilevel inverter (MLI) topologies have gained a significant acceptance through the recent years. MLIs have great advantages such as reduced switching stress, low electromagnetic interferences (EMI) and low harmonics in the output responses, thus it is used for medium voltage and high power applications. Conventional cascaded and other MLI topologies are less cost effective due to its huge size and weight since it employs more number of elements such as power switches, passive elements and sources. A high gain multilevel inverter with reduced stress and passive components based on Switched Capacitor(SC) technique is proposed in this paper. Addition of switched capacitor cells increases the number of output voltage levels as well as improve the gain of the circuit. Different control strategies are analysed on the proposed topology and % THD is measured. The simulation is done with MATLAB/ SIMULINK 2017a and results are obtained. Variation of modulation index will result in corresponding variation in output voltage levels and thus the gain can also be varied.
