Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the oral health knowledge and attitude of elementary school teachers and to provide basic data necessary to develop oral health education programs to improve teachers' oral health knowledge. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 for windows, SPSS Inc. Chicago, IL. USA. The subjects distribution were male 22.5%, female 77.5%, the highest age was 30’s to 36.6%, education career was the highest as 10-19years to 37.0%, subjective oral health status of health group was 35.0%, non-health group was 65.0%. As recognition level of subjects in main task of school oral health clinic, “fit and fissure sealant is main task” was the highest to 35.2% , depending on subjective oral health status in the major task awareness of school oral health clinic has responded that “caries treatment” in the health group subjects was 31.3%, in non-health group the response that “fit and fissure sealant is main task” was 43.0% (p <0.026). More specific and detailed tools should be developed to measure teachers' interest in oral health and follow-up research should be conducted.
