Abstract

Applications of bfrp and cfrp in aircraft and military equipment are discussed. Various patching techniques, utilizing bfrp, are described which prevent or considerably reduce crack propogation in fatigue or stress corrosion cracked aircraft component. Both composites have been used to reinforce metal components; applications include reducing vibration and buckling problems in aircraft, use in support legs of military equipment and in vanes in wind gust probes. The influence of Australia's hot/wet environment has been a consideration in the choice and development of the materials used.
