Abstract

The development of information technology has led to a dramatic growth in the sophistication of web applications that can support the majority of the tasks performed by users. In this day and age, information and communication technologies have evolved into an essential component of our everyday lives. The vast majority of us are dependent on various forms of modern technology. Whether or not we agree, we cannot ignore the significant contribution that technology makes to our day-to-day lives. In addition to the utilisation of information and communication technologies (ICT), one other issue that we need to be aware of is the privacy problem, particularly in regards to the personal information. These days, we conduct the business of our daily lives through the use of internet transactions. With the help of ICT, we were able to include social networking into our day-to-day lives in the form of activities such as online banking, online gaming, and social media networking through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, amongst others. In point of fact, we do expose our own personal information completely on our own volition and without bias. This article will discuss the ways in which the usage of information and communication technologies (ICT), the internet, and social networking sites affect privacy concerns around personal information.
