Abstract

The population of Seoul has kept on decreasing, and it is because of losing younger population influx, low birth rates, aging. And one of the main factor is high housing price. These social phenomenon severely affects low income households compared to mid- and high income households. Upon this background, this study has tried to explore how low-income housing movement is different from mid- and high-income households’ in a city, and to analyze where low-income households tend to move actually. The result of this study figured out that housing movement starting from Seoul has spreaded out to Gyeonggi province. Since Housing movement is chain reaction, there is a fear that the low income housing problems in Seoul can be spreaded out to Gyeonggi province. To resolve the situation, government’s housing policy needs to be improved. First of all, housing voucher needs to be extended so that the low-income people’s anxiety can be reduced. Secondly, government’s support towards rental housing needs to be expanded. Last but not least, fair rental fee system should be considered to be applied in order to prevent excessive increase of housing rental fee.
