Abstract

Conclusions and significance: Ghronic groin pain is one of the most common acute injuries and especially overuse injuries suffered by elite soccer players. Ekstrand (1994) described a groin injury rate of 28% in soccer players. Previous authors have described limitation of hip joint movement as a factor in traumatic osteitis pubis (Williams, 1978), most notably in internal rotation. A mechanism has been postulated whereby a limitation in internal hip rotation on the stance leg causes a shearing force to be imparted through the pubic symphysis.
