Abstract

The large positive magnetostriction of Fe-B based amorphous alloys causes audible noise when they are employed as core materials in transformers. Therefore, it is important to investigate the origin of large magnetostriction. In the present study, variations of magnetostriction constants $(\lambda_{100}, \lambda_{111})$ in Fe-B alloys are compared with those measured for Fe-AI alloys[1], and the origin of large magnetostriction in Fe-based soft magnetic material is discussed.
