Abstract

Abstract Gas gain measurements are reported for mixtures of primarily carbon dioxide, with minority gases such as methane and isobutane used as quenchers. The effects of the concentration of those minority gases on the gas gain, on the space charge effects and on pulse height resolutions were studied. These measurements were contrasted with measurements made on primarily argon mixtures.
