Abstract

Experimental results are presented dealing with the energy distribution of positively charged ions occuring within straight channel multipliers. These ions are produced mainly at the positive potential end of the tube by interaction between cascade electrons and residual gas molecules inside the vacuum chamber. There exists a sharp decrease in the energy distribution of the ions corresponding to the applied high voltage of the straight channel multiplier.
