Abstract

This experimental study was carried out to determine the feasibility of utilizing renewable bioethanol as an oxygenated fuel additive with petrodiesel. The ethanol-diesel fuel blends stabilized by adding surfactants (biodiesel or span 80) were checked for their physical stability at varying surfactant concentration and the dispersion destabilization was detected by Turbiscan. The most stable blends were tested for their physical properties in accordance with ASTM standards and the performance of single-cylinder diesel engine was determined when fueled with ethanol-diesel stabilized blends.
