Abstract

Consistency and accuracy in embryo grading is an important, yet challenging factor in the IVF laboratory. Efforts have been undertaken to standardize embryo grading with published scales and systems. However, paramount to these systems is consistency from the embryologist in their assessments. An example of the extreme variability of embryo grading can be seen in the often-neglected early blastocyst stage, with differences in terminology and grading varying by region.
