Abstract

In this paper, a transmitarray element based on single-layer dielectric substrate which operating at 9.5 GHz is proposed. The transmitarray element is consist of two Jerusalem cross patches and four identical metal vias. The metal vias improve the coupling between the two layers of patches, and enable the transmitarray element to have sufficient phase shift coverage range while maintaining a low transmission loss. By tuning the size of the patches and the position of the metal vias, the transmitarray element can achieve a transmission phase of more than 360° and a transmission magnitude of more than - 3.5dB. The proposed element has only one layer of dielectric substrate and simple structure. Therefore, it is suitable for high- gain and low-cost transmitarray antenna designs.
