Abstract
A single-chip remotely-powered wireless transceiver with an embedded temperature sensor and a miniature antenna is implemented in the 950 MHz UHF frequency band using GlobalFoundries' 45 nm CMOS SOI technology. With antenna, temperature sensor, ADC, modulator and demodulator integrated on a single chip, the system consumes only $\pmb{120 \mu \mathrm{W}}$ of harvested power with an area of $\pmb{0.7 \mathrm{mm} \times 0.8 \mathrm{mm}}$ , which makes it one of the smallest wireless temperature sensing transceiver. The uplink data rate is 312.5 kbps with a 10 MHz system clock generated using an on-chip digitally controlled oscillator. The temperature sensor is measured over a range of 20°C to 100°C with a sensing accuracy of +0.7 to −1°C.
