Abstract

A mass spectrometer is described using two sets of deflection plates and the ac voltage of a voltage controlled generator. The frequency of the generator could automatically be changed over a range of 1–100 by the voltage of the time base of an oscilloscope, on which the collector current was displayed. This frequency change allows a scan of mass numbers from 10 to 105.
