Abstract

A simple solution to the problem of detecting edges between regions in noisy images is presented, which yields a low redundancy high definition weighted edge image, suitable for use as the input to higher pattern recognition algorithms. A detailed algorithm is outlined and its results on several real and synthetic images are presented and compared to the output from a Sobel operator.
