Abstract
A novel polycatenar liquid crystal containing two α-cyanostilbene (CS) interconnected by an aza-BODIPY core and three alkoxy chains at each end has been prepared via Suzuki coupling and Knoevenagel reactions as key steps. This compound can self-assemble into the enantiotropic columnar phase with p4mm lattice and organogels with different morphologies. Such NIR compound displays a large Stokes shift and AIE effect. It possesses a certain singlet oxygen yield. The CS units also endow such compound mechanochromic luminescence (MCL) responsive property. These properties have been verified by theoretical calculation.
