Abstract

Within the European Geotraverse Project (EGT) extensive seismic refraction studies were carried out along the northern part of the southern segment, comprising the Ligurian Sea, the northern Apennines, the Po Plain and the Southern Alps. A very complicated and anomalous crustal structure could be detected beneath the Southern Alps as well as beneath the northern Apennines.
