A. ; Kwok, Sun ; Frankow, J. Abstract The result of an OH survey of IRAS sources with the objective of detecting previously unknown highly evolved stars is reported. Objects selected for observations were north of declination + 20 deg, had no known catalog associations, and showed the 9.7-micron silicate feature in either emission or absorption. Of the 144 sources observed, 25 show double-peak emission characteristic of an expanding shell and an additional two sources show a single OH emission line. One IRAS source (19566 + 3423) is found to have a peculiar twin-double-peak profile suggestive of a concentric shell structure. Unlike most other sources the OH lines in this object show strong circular polarization and time variability.
