The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is the premier industrial R&D organisation in India. Its 37 constituent units (laboratories, centres, institutes, etc.) address various scientific and technological needs of an emerging economy, such as providing industrial competitiveness, social welfare and inclusiveness, building up a strong S&T base for strategic sectors and advancement of fundamental knowledge. Research output published in open access (OA) journals by the scientist/researchers in five premier multidisciplinary CSIR laboratories in India has been analysed bibliometically. Publishing research findings in OA journals is a means of enhancing visibility and consequently increasing the impact of publications. The study provides an overview of OA publishing trends in five premier CSIR laboratories of India. The publication output of each laboratory from 2009 to 2013 was ascertained through Web of Science database and the name of source journals along with the number of publication recorded. All 1512 journal titles were searched in the directory of OA journals. In this article, we have analysed only research papers; specifically, document types such as research articles, review articles and conference proceedings published in SCI Journals. The 5973 research articles were contributed by the five multidisciplinary CSIR laboratories and appeared in 1512 journals. The CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow publishes 9.67% of its research output in OA journals, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL), Pune 4.84%, CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur 8.46%, CSIR-National Institute of Science Communications & Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR), New Delhi 62% and CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi 7.49%. The study reveals that a small portion of research publications of five multidisciplinary Indian CSIR labs is published in OA journals, the majority in journals of Indian origin. The NISCAIR has published more of their research papers in OA journals to other labs. The study also reveals that only peer reviewed OA journals (such as Current Science, PLoS One, Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Physics, etc.) are used by the CSIR's scientists and researchers for dissemination of their research findings.

The present study was conducted to map scientific research in diabetes mellitus using scientometric analysis in Middle Eastern countries during 2003- 2007. Methods: This was an analytical study with a scientometric approach. The study population was formed by the indexed scientific results of diabetes mellitus in the Web of Science database during 2007-2013. Data were analyzed using Excel, and HistCite to map the scientific texts. Results: A total of 6532 records were retrieved from 3926 institutions. These records belonged to 19 323 authors and were published in 1420 journals. The Journal of Diabetes Care, with 3928 citations, had the most global citation score (GCS). The Journal of Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice, with 185 citations, achieved the first degree of local citation score (LCS). Most of the scientific documents produced in the Middle East belonged to Turkey (31.91%) and Iran (21.7%). Seven scientific clusters based on LCS, and 5 based on GCS existed in the scientific mapping. Topical clusters based on global and local indices showed that the prevalence of diabetes, hyperglycemia, and pregnancy outcomes, diabetic risk factors, diabetic complications and their new treatments, and glucose monitoring in Type 1 diabetes were the fields being addressed in the main articles of the clusters. Conclusion: Scientific production and local and global citations in diabetes research in Iran (21.7% of diabetes research in the Middle East) have elevated the country to a prominent position. Top ranking countries in diabetic research were Turkey, Iran, and Israel, respectively. Moreover, this paper quantified the studies that were done on different aspects of diabetes. The results of this study can be used by health care providers to employ the best multidisciplinary approach for managing diabetes and its complications. The discovery of microRNAs (miRNAs) has revealed a new level in gene expression post-transcriptional control. Several studies have been published to date looking at the relationship between miRNAs and viral (swine flu, HIV, and hepatitis B) or bacterial infections. We conducted a bibliometric evaluation of the existing literature on miRNAs in the infectious disease research area. The major purpose of this study was to investigate the significance of publications and identify research developments and clusters using bibliometric methods. Data was obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database. The titles, document types, publication years, authors, affiliations, keywords, publishing journals, abstracts of each document, and citations within the WoS database were saved as TXT files and retrieved into Microsoft Office Excel 2019. Data for this investigation was obtained from the WoS database on 10 April 2022. The WoS database's Results Analysis and Citation Report were used to analyze the number of publications from various viewpoints, such as years, journals, and authors. To visualize country collaboration networks and keywords we used the VOSviewer software version 1.6.18 for Microsoft Windows. We found 623 documents of which 251 (40.3%) were articles. All the publications were published in English. The first document was published in 2007, and the maximum number of documents was published in 2021. The number of documents has been increasing since 2019. China dominated the scientific production with 398 (63.9%) publications. The top five leading scientifically productive countries on this topic also included the USA (n = 100; 16.1%), Japan (n = 24; 3.9%), Germany (n = 20; 3.2%), and Italy (n = 17; 2.7%). The documents originating from China were cited 5705 times (an average of 14.3/document). The documents originating from the USA were cited 2190 times (an average of 21.9/document). Since 2019, the number of studies on miRNA in infectious illnesses has steadily increased. China and the USA have made tremendous contributions to this field's study. We discovered several deregulated miRNAs, including miR-122, miR-133a, miR-146, miR-155, and miR-370, were described in the context of sepsis and infection using bibliometric methods. Understanding these crucial factors, as well as how research is performed and directed, might lead to a new perspective in the creation of new strategies to manage variable infections in the coming years.

  • Shuangqing Sheng + 3 more

As the carrier of global urbanization, urban land is the basic means of productivity and life of urban residents. Urban land management is of great significance to global climate change mitigation, improving ecological quality, promoting economic development, and ensuring sustainable urban development. At present, although studies on urban land management have accumulated at the global level, the differences in research methods, objectives, and perspectives have led to the fragmentation and confusion of research conclusions. Therefore, it is necessary to review the literature of urban land management, clarify the research contexts, grasp the research progress, and predict the research trends. Bibliometrics, as a quantitative analysis method of literature review analysis, is more comprehensive and objective than relying only on a literature review. It is of great value to grasp the topics and trends of the research field from an overall perspective. In this paper, the Bibliometrix R software package was used to conduct an econometric literature analysis on urban land management from 1979 to 2021, using the Web of Science database. The results showed that: (1) the annual scientific research output and citation frequency in the field of urban land management has generally increased. Combined with the annual change trend of scientific research output, urban land management research can be divided into three stages: the budding period, from 1979 to 1989, the development period, from 1990 to 2008, and the high-yield period, from 2009 to 2021. (2) The 129 countries/regions reviewed differed in their research output, and developed countries showed strong research. The United States, China, and Australia were the top three countries in terms of solo publications and cooperation publications. In addition, among the 16,270 authors, the top three authors were Pradhan, Zhao, and Li. (3) The top three keywords in the field of urban land management were “Management”, “City/Cities” and “Land Use”. The research topics can be divided into three stages. The first stage covers studies with topics of “Management”, “Urbanization” and “GIS”, from 1979 to 2013. From 2014 to 2018, the research topics were gradually enriched by “Urbanization”, “Impact”, “System”, “GIS”, “Management”, “Policy”, “Conservation” and “land”, with a trend towards multidisciplinary and multi-perspective comprehensive analyses. From 2019 to 2021, “Management” and “Climate Change” were the main topics.

  • Danessa Lisbeth Chirinos Fernández + 3 more

Mathematical argumentation constitutes an essential skill in university education, playing a decisive role in the development of critical thinking and advanced logical reasoning within higher education contexts. This study analyzed the evolution and trends of scientific production in mathematical argumentation in higher education through bibliometric analysis. A total of 128 documents were examined and extracted from the Dimensions, Scopus, and Web of Science databases via bibliometric techniques implemented via Bibliometrix in RStudio and VOSviewer. The results revealed a significant increase in scientific output since 1995, with a notable rise after 2007, although the citation impact did not increase proportionally. Scientific collaboration was concentrated in institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with a limited network of international cooperation. The analysis of conceptual structures identified "mathematical argumentation," "mathematical reasoning," and "critical thinking" as central thematic cores, highlighting an evolution from approaches centered on formal logic toward paradigms integrating cognitive, metacognitive, and technological dimensions. This study underscores the need to strengthen global academic networks—particularly in emerging regions—to develop integrative theoretical frameworks and design more effective strategies to increase the citation impact of research. Future research should broaden the scope through the use of multiple databases, explore the impact of new technologies on the teaching of mathematical argumentation, and examine how argumentative skills develop across different cultural and educational contexts.
