Abstract
This article presents a safety first model of risk designed for use in farm management and marketing extension programs in which risk management is not the major emphasis. The methodology uses a lower confidence limit for net returns approach adapted from portfolio analysis. The use of the model is illustrated with an application to a crop enterprise planning program in Minnesota.
