Abstract
The increase in world energy demand has made renewable energy sources one of the best options in the world. Renewable energy resources will be an important part of power generation in the future. Use of solar energy reduces emission of greenhouse gases. Solar energy is completely free of cost and widely available. Solar energy generation is largely dependent on the intensity of solar radiation. The changing position of sun causes to have different sun intensity in different seasons as well as different times of the year. Therefore, by using solar tracking devices solar energy generation can be increased than the conventional system. Sun trackers can increase the collected energy between 10% to 100% based on geographical conditions. This paper studies the zenith and azimuth angles required for the position of the sun in the sky. This paper studies two types of solar tracking systems such as single axis and double axis tracking systems. Based on the study it is found that overall efficiency of the system can be increased with the help of mechatronics devices such as sensors, motor, microcontroller and battery and above mentioned two solar tracking systems. This paper studies that in forecast, cloudy conditions and high latitude conditions use of conventional solar system is more beneficial than the tracking system.
