Abstract

Cellular Automata is used to simulate the city expansion and has very good dimensional modeling capability. To obtain a more desirable simulation effect on complex urban systems, this paper presents an urban cellular automata model based on diverse regions. Through dividing vital sub-regions that are of global impact factors, taking newly additional gross urban lands within diverse regions and time as a constrain condition of CA Model and computing the impact strength of land use of each factor in different types of regions, we could therefore get the nonlinear spatial transformation rules of all regions involved as well as form CA Models of different regions, making the results of simulation approaching closer to the realistic conditions. This model can be easily exploring urban land use development situation as to different land use policy, Can provide useful decision support for urban planning.
