Abstract

A monitor for white balance adjustment of color television receivers has been developed. The monitor makes it possible to obtain 52 different reference white displays, consisting of one central white display and 12 near-white displays at luminance values of 15, 30, 70, and 215 cd/m 2 . The chromaticities of these reference displays can be reproduced within reliability limits of ±0.003 of the chromaticity coordinate value. The device consists of a picture tube, a deflection plate system, and the synchronizing circuit of a common television receiver. A multiplier and a function module are added for simplicity and ease of adjustment. The monitor also may be used in other fields such as color quality control and color education.
