Abstract
A rare case of hermaphroditism in lake whitefish was observed. The ovo-testis was found in the left gonad with an unusual dorsal-ventral relationship between the two parts. The male portion contained both wide tubules densely packed with germ cells, bordering on the ovarian tissue, and narrow tubules, with fewer germ cells, in the rest of the testis. The female portion appeared to contain only atretic eggs. There was a clear demarcation between the male and female portions of the ovo-testis.
