Abstract

Question: A 53-year-old man was referred to our hospital because of a nearly 4.5-year history of hematochezia and abdominal pain. He had 4 episodes of gastrointestinal bleeding in the first 7 months of the history. Repeated gastroscopy and colonoscopy were performed during that period, but no abnormal lesions were found. Single-balloon enteroscopy for the entire small intestine showed a 0.3 × 0.3 cm ulcer without active bleeding in the distal duodenum (Figure A). The patient received medical treatment, and enteroscopy re-examination 1 month later demonstrated the duodenal lesion had cured.
