Abstract

A radio-on-fiber (ROF) intelligence transport system (ITS) access network employing electroabsorption modulator low bias voltage and semiconductor optical amplifier light injection technique is proposed and demonstrated. Good performances third-order intermodulation distortion-to-carrier ratio (IMD/sub 3//C) and spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) were obtained in our proposed system over an 80-km single-mode fiber transport. Our proposed ROF ITS access network can transmit microwave signals with an SFDR >112 dB/spl middot/Hz/sup 4/5/. Such a proposed ROF ITS access network is suitable for the microwave optical links.
