Abstract

In order to use wireless sensor network (WSN) in the indoor corridor, such as orientation and environment monitoring, the model of radio propagation is needed to be researched. In this paper, firstly, the channel measurement platform is designed based on the real scene of the corridor. Secondly, the fading characteristics of the channel transmission for wireless sensor nodes are tested in the corridor. And the testing data are treated and the corresponding model is presented. Lastly, a WSN is deployed and measured in the corridor for monitoring based on the propagation model. The results show that while antenna height is equal to 1.5 meter, where there is higher signal strength than that of other height. And the signal attenuation increased when the distance between transmitter and receiver increased. When the antenna angle is 90°, the signal strength is highest than that of other signal angle. Therefore, the optimal antenna height is 1.5 m, and the optimal antenna angle is 90°. In addition, 433MHz wireless channel loss in the corridor could be predicted by the logarithm distance path loss model. It is also shown that the model have a considerable impact on the average number of neighbors and on the network connectivity. The proposed model analytical results have an important significance for the key technology of use of WSN.
