Abstract

Summary.— Factors involved in the formation of erythrasma lesions are discussed. In the axillae and groins, the presence of scaling was a significant forerunner of the appearance of a fluorescent lesion. The total bacterial count, the counts of both fluorescent and non-fluorescent diphtherolds, were highest in areas showing both fluorescence and scaling, but the number of micrococci did not differ significantly between affected and non-affected sites.
