Abstract

With the fast changing landscape of electronic information and services, creating awareness, facilitating access, and stimulating the usage of electronic information may be necessary. Communication activities form an important basis for the success or failure of new, electronic information services and/or databases and the degree to which the information contained therein is accessed and used. Promotion and training aimed at both the end users as well as intermediate parties should be contemplated. This paper addresses a range of communication activities and practical tools intended to optimize awareness and usage. On the basis of the TULIP project and Elsevier Electronic. Subscriptions program experiences, it intends to offer a guideline for those library organizations (academic, corporate, government, and other) contemplating or already installing new electronic services.
