Abstract
A prognostic score was developed for penetrating open-globe injuries with intraocular foreign body based only on initial findings, and its ability to predict prognosis was evaluated in 37 eyes with penetrating injury. The significant prognostic factors identified in this series were initial visual acuity, wound zone, and wound size. Based on these parameters, a numerical score was assigned to each eye. High and low scores were accurate in predicting good and poor final visual acuity, respectively.
