Abstract

Preliminary observations on the distribution, life-history, economic importance, and food-plants of the lima bean pod-borer, Maruca testulalis Geyer. While searching for the food-plants of the lima bean pod-borer, the Pyralids Etiella zinckenella Treit. and Fundella cistipennis Dyar, and the Gelechiid, Brachyacma palpigera Wlsm. have been reared from the pods of the legumes. Preliminary notes are also given on these species and their parasites, as well as on several other species of lesser importance.
