Abstract
A commercially available photon detector has been tested for simultaneous measurement of energy and position of charged particles. The results obtained are a 16.2 keV FWHM energy resolution for 5.8 MeV α-particles and a 0.07 mm FWHM position resolution. The thickness of the inactive front layer of the detector was determined from measured energy losses of α-particles impinging at different angles on the detector and was found to be 100 nm.
