Abstract
To satisfy the increasing demands for live ants in our research program, it became necessary to design and develop portable collection equipment which was more efficient and versatile than previously described devices. These equipment needs are summarized as follows: portable, with weight not to exceed 15 lb; easily usable for collecting large ants; battery-operated and requiring minimum of battery changes during 1 day; batteries rechargeable overnight; and easily repaired, with interchangeable parts.
