Abstract

ABSTRACTThis article presents a novel antenna with an improved impedance bandwidth and axial ratio bandwidth. This new design is comprised of an equiangular spiral and two annular rings on the same plane. These are printed on a Taconic substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.2 and a thickness of 1.52 mm. The proposed antenna has good performance compared with the conventional equiangular spiral antenna. The simulation results are validated through experimental measurements, and the overall size of the spiral antenna is visibly reduced. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
