Abstract
A fully automated versatile positioner operating at any space orientation is described. The key feature of the device is the application of a rotary inertial stepping piezomotor with arcsec angular step size for sample/scanner translation. The positioner provides step sizes from 7 to 45 nm over a total translation range of 8 mm.
