Abstract

Purpose: People with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) have suggested they need support to engage with physical activity following their diagnosis. With patient input, and based upon previous research, we developed an intervention delivered by musculoskeletal physiotherapists in a primary care setting - Promoting Engagement in Physical Activity for Rheumatoid Arthritis (PEPA-RA). This consisted of four group and one individual session delivered over 12 weeks by a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in a primary care setting. Each session included patient education, support for behaviour change, and supervised practical exercise. The aim was to test the feasibility and acceptability of PEPA-RA to inform a future delivery and further research.
