Abstract

A novel hybrid open-framework manganese phosphate–oxalate templated with an organic amine, [CH 3NH 2CH 3][Mn 2(OH 2)(HPO 4)(C 2O 4) 1.5], has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. The light pink compound crystallizes in a triclinic system of space group P 1 ¯ (No. 2), with lattice parameters a = 8.3014 ( 1 ) Å , b = 9.740 ( 2 ) Å , c = 7.744 ( 2 ) Å , α = 102.32 ( 2 ) ° , β = 93.38 ( 2 ) ° , γ = 75.90 ( 1 ) ° , V = 572.7 ( 2 ) Å 3 . In this structure, MnO 6 octahedra, PO 4 tetrahedra and C 2O 4 groups are linked to give rise to a three-dimensional open framework containing channels with 10-, 8- and 10-membered windows running along the a, b and c axis, respectively. The organic template diethylenetriamine lies disorderedly in the interspace of the channels along the c axis. The compound is an antiferromagnet with a T N = 9 K .
