Abstract

Based on the octuple angle formula of the cosine function, a novel ROM-less direct digital frequency synthesizer (DDFS) is designed and analyzed. From the analysis, with the error compensation, a 16-bit high-resolution can be achieved by the devised DDFS, and the analytical spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) is 109.1dBc. To have the complete period of the trigonometric function, the control circuit is also designed. The proposed DDFS can be realized by cell-based process.
